PORSCHE 914, 912 TYPE IV REBUILT 2.0L VW ENGINE, MOTOR
Description
Up for auction is a beautifulready to run GC case 2.0 liter type IV (4)Porsche enginewith GB case style Euro pistons which has (0) miles on a FRESH rebuild. It comes complete as shown and prior to the rebuild was removed from a running car.Along with the internal components being replaced the sheet metal and accessories were bead blasted and resprayed to give the engine a nice clean appearance. As you all know a 2.0 in your 914 or 912 makes a world of difference and increases the value of your car quite a bit so if you don't want the hassle and cost of trying to find and build a 2.0 then this is the perfect auction for included a short3 minute video so you can see and hear the engine start, run, accelerate, verify that the charging system is working, verify that the engine burns clean, and see the idle RPM and timing settings (currently set @ ~950 RPM & ~25° BTC). I tried to cover everything thatyou as a BUYER would want toinspect for yourself but can't. If for any reason I missed something don't hesitate in sending me an email so I can shoot you an answer.
As per the engine applications: The engine was removed from a 1975 Porsche 914 2.0 and has therefore has the desirable 2.0L3 bolt heads, GC004311 case, and optional crankcase Oil Temperature sender. It is also equipped with a set of dual 32/36mm Weber Progressive carbs which gives it the fuel economy of a 2bbl with the performance of a 4 bbl when you need
The engine is a direct fit and can be used in ALL 914s from 1970-76. It can also be used in ALL late model Porsche 912Es that came equipped with a type IV engine. If you have an earlier 912 you can use the engine BUT you will have to make some engine compartment modifications to facilitate the type IV fan
The engine can also be used in manyother vehicles such as trikes, buggies, Type II or IV VW buses, and various Off Road vehicles that are in dire need of an engine.
As per what was done (i.e. engine old ownerhad his car for about 12 years when itsuddenly developed a miss.Hetook it to F.A.T. performance of Orange back in ~2002 to have it repaired. They replaced the distributor with a new 009 unit and rebuilt the heads and carbswhich remedied the problem. After the work was completedhe put another 1500 miles on the car but had to stop driving itwhen the engine developed a severe smoking problem. He then parked the carand never drove it Since the heads were recently rebuilt and only had 1500 miles on them Iassumed thatthey would be fine, therefore during the rebuild I onlyinspected them for cracks and lapped the valves. Brand New Euro style FLAT TOP 94mm Hypereutectic Aluminum Alloy Pistons, Rings, Cast Iron Cylinders/Jugs, Wrist pins,Rod bearings,Main bearings,Cam bearings,Seals, Gaskets,Engine tin screws,Bosch spark plug wires, Bosch oil filter,Chrome crankcase filter, K&N/Empi Air filter assemblies, andSachs 6 spring Clutch Discwere installed in the rebuild. The crank was not turned in the rebuild but it was polished and mic-ed to verify proper dimensions and roundness. The cam and cam gear were also checked andre-used because they were still in great condition with no signs of wear. Finally the flywheel wasturned and the clutch disc was replaced with a new 6 spring Sachs Overall the engine runs great now and sounds strong. I didn't install the exhaustpipes in the video so you could see that each cylinder burns clean and I put the camera up by the valve covers so you could listen and hear how quite the valve train is. Since I had to pull the carbs and distributor for the rebuild I had to re-adjust and re-synchronize both the carbs and the distributor for the new engine. I have the carbs tuned in pretty darn close right now but you'll probably want to do a little tweaking on them after the engine fully breaks in.
2 quick notes about stuff that you can't see. First, (2) of the rear engine case tin screw holes were partially stripped out so during the rebuild I siliconed those in to prevent them from backing out. They're solidly in place now but if you remove the tin you'll have to either put a dab of silicone on them again or helicoil the holes. Second, the old ownerremoved the choke system from both of the carbs because he thought it would increase air flow or somethinglike that. He had most of the choke parts still around but when I picked up the car he was missing the choke plates/rods. Since I didn't have all the parts I didn't reinstall the choke system. The parts I have here will be included with the engine so if you choose to reinstall it you'll just have to find a couple parts. To be honest I don't think you'll have to mess with it unless you plan on driving the car in some very cold weather (Right now the engine starts up great even in cold weather (CA cold) without the choke installed and warms up As per Part receipt copies can be given upon request to verify what was done although I don't have a receipt from F.A.Tfor the head work back in 02'. As per I have a forklift here so loading will be a breeze and Local pickup is more than welcomed. Shipping will also be available for anyone who needs it although there will be a $50 crating charge which will be added to the shipping cost to cover my time and cost to secure the engine to a pallet, purchase plywood, 2"x4"s, screws, and build a crate for safe transport. Unless you have another shipping preferance the engine will be shipped via As per Payment: The engine will not be shipped until payment is received in Full. I will require at least a $250 deposit within 24hrs. If I do not receive the deposit within 24 hrs or Full payment within 7 days I will relist the engine and/or offer it to the next highest bidder. If you need more time to come up with the Full payment please don't hesitate in contacting me, I am very easy to work with and I am more than willing to work with you and hold the engine on deposit for up to 30 days with no questions asked as long as you keep in contact with me. Payment by Cash or MO is prefered and I offer a 3% discount for either since that is what Paypal charges me for a transfer fee. Paypal is fine too but I don't offer a discount for that form of payment. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for the interest and good luck!
